How much does SchoolMaker cost?

Are there any specific limitations to the platform that I should know about before ordering?

SchoolMaker is not an "all-in-one" tool, i.e. we do not manage your email campaigns, nor your sales tunnels (and we do not intend to do so).

The course and community aspects or SchoolMaker are fully operational.

When it comes to checkouts and payments, some advanced features are not yet present:

• You can only take payments with Stripe (Paypal is not natively integrated yet, but we have a Zapier integration for it)
• We don't manage your affiliates program yet
• We do not yet support "one-click upsells" (you can sell course packs, but not add products to an already finalized order)

If your business depends on this type of functionality, you can contact our support at support@schoolmaker.co so we can find a solution for you.

Otherwise, you can wait for us to add these features, which have been much requested and are coming!

I already use another platform for my courses. Can you help me migrate?

Yes. We managed the entire migration for our beta testers, so we know the main tools on the market.

If you want us to help you migrate, start by testing the tool with a free trial, and prepare everything you need to migrate your Courses. (videos, documents, resources...)

When you are ready to migrate, contact us. If you take an annual plan, we will take care of your migration from A to Z.

Can I customize the design of the platform?

Currently, customization options are limited. You will be able to add your logo and banners for your courses.

We have prioritized having a beautiful designer-produced interface, rather than a customizable design (which never looks as good in the end!).

In the future, we will be introducing more customization options, based on our customers' requests.

My courses are not structured in the "classical" way. Can I use SchoolMaker?

Most courses should work fine in SchoolMaker, but if your course is way out of the box, contact us at support@schoolmaker.co and describe your course.

We will tell you if SchoolMaker is a good option for you or not.

Do you have a mobile application?

Not at the moment, but SchoolMaker works wonderfully on a mobile browser.

How long has SchoolMaker been in development?

Development began in March 2020. Currently, three developers are working exclusively on SchoolMaker, plus another 4 people on customer support, operations and marketing.

Is it possible to make "packs" which bundle multiple courses together?

Yes, Bundles can contain multiple courses and/or community spaces. You can even define different access periods (e.g. you can have a Course with unlimited access, but a forum with access for only one year).

Can I use my SchoolMaker account for several different businesses?

Yes, it's possible.

My advice would be to choose a neutral SchoolMaker subdomain (the format is "your-company.schoolmaker.co") or domain that can apply to all your businesses.

Then you can have a separate forum for each course, and thus run separate businesses on the same account.

The alternative, of course, would be to create multiple accounts, with multiple subscriptions.

Can I create quizzes in my courses?

Yes, you can create quizzes and see the score of each member.

Puis-je avoir SchoolMaker dans une autre langue ?

For the time being, SchoolMaker is available in French and English. 

Can I use my own domain or sub-domain? How do members access my course?

Each SchoolMaker school has its own dedicated sub-domain. For example, mine is "marketingmania.schoolmaker.co

But you can also use your own domain name for your online school!

Do you take a percentage of the transactions that go through SchoolMaker?

No. You just have to pay Stripe's standard fees (1.4% + 0.25 €), with no additional commission from us.

Can I export all my data?

Upon request, we will provide you with an archive of your data as set out in section 4.4.1. of our Privacy Policy.

You may also request that all data relating to your school be deleted.

Is my data safe?

SSL is in place throughout SchoolMaker to secure your connection and that of your members.

On top of that, your data is stored at Heroku and Amazon Web Services which are extremely reliable hosting providers.

Who has access to my data, my content and my members?

Only you and the administrators you add to your SchoolMaker account have access to your school's data.

If you have a problem and want to troubleshoot directly in your account, a member of our team will be able to access your school - but only with your permission.

What will be the next features of the shopping cart?

I was asked for three specific features:

• Affiliation: is already planned and will be added as soon as the SchoolMaker shopping cart is available.

• Offer a product in limited quantities: this feature is quite simple and goes well with offering "promos". We will add it.

• Share the income between several authors of a course: This feature seems to me to be too complex at the moment, and we don't plan to add it. Of course, ThriveCart does this wonderfully 😉 - and (as I've told you many times over the past few days), if you have an ultra-specific need, it's best to use an ultra-specialized tool.

Am I "advanced" enough for SchoolMaker?

I have stated several times that SchoolMaker is for "advanced" and "established" course creators.

What does that mean?

It doesn't mean you have to make a lot of money and it doesn't mean you have to have years of experience, but having some experience with online courses is recommended.

I understand that SchoolMaker doesn't do "all-in-one" because specialized tools are better. But then, what specialized tools do you recommend?

To put it simply, there are only 2 things you need (in addition to SchoolMaker if you decide to join us) to run a Courses business:

1. An emailing system

I use and recommend ActiveCampaign, which is very complete and powerful.

Inexpensive options to get started that are still effective are Mailchimp (free up to 2000 subscribers), Convertkit (free up to 1000 subscribers) and Mailerlite (free up to 1000 subscribers).


2. A way to create sales and capture pages

I mainly use Leadpages or Webflow to create my capture and sales pages (for example, most of the Marketing Mania site was created on Leadpages, and most of the SchoolMaker site on Webflow).

But you can find cheaper. For example, Thrive Architect is excellent and cheap. This is the tool I recommend to most people.

Can we make "promotions" or "client groups" that take the course together and have their own discussion area?

Not yet, but it has been requested several times, and it is planned.

Can we add audio instead of video?

Yes.

Can we add PDFs?

Yes, you can add PDFs in the "Resources" section, below your lessons, or directly in the lesson (replacing a video). In this case, the PDF is displayed in a reader, and you can disable its download.

Can I limit the number of IP addresses that connect to a member's account, to prevent my members from sharing their passwords?

Not at the moment, but we plan to add this option.

How does adding my students to SchoolMaker work?

You have three options:

1. Selling directly through SchoolMaker
2. Selling via another tool and add your members to SchoolMaker via Zapier
3. Import your entire customer list at once via a .csv file

Are there any hidden fees, contracts or conditions on cancellation?

No. The rate shown represents the full cost of SchoolMaker. Whether you choose a yearly or monthly plan, you can cancel your subscription at any time at no additional cost.

What types of payment do you accept?

We only take credit cards, through Paddle which works as a reseller and will automatically calculate your payment according to your currency and applicable taxes.
